Ukrzaliznytsia has launched evacuation trains due to the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Ukrzaliznytsia is assisting the local authorities in evacuating residents of Kherson and nearby villages.

“The first free evacuation train will depart from Kherson at 12:00. Additional evacuation trains will be appointed as needed. We will transport everyone to safety, no matter what,” stated the statement from Ukrzaliznytsia.

On June 6, the Russians detonated the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is located upstream from Kherson along the Dnipro River. The dam suffered critical damage and is not subject to restoration. Currently, the southern territories of Ukraine may be left without electricity and water. There is a high probability of flooding. The Kherson Regional State Administration stated that the water level due to the dam explosion will become critical within five hours. People have been warned about the urgent evacuation to other regions of Ukraine.
