This May marks a moment in British history that will be unfamiliar to a great many: the coronation of a monarch. His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will be crowned on May 6, 2023 in Westminster Abbey, in a ceremony conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. But while this itself is a formal occasion, marked by centuries-old traditions, the summer following at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire will be full of celebration.
Here’s a rundown of what royal fun is coming up at the 500 acre (200 hectare) estate.
A Taste of Royal-tea
From May 1 to June 30, 2023, Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is serving a Coronation Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches include smoked salmon, truffle egg and cress, coronation chicken, roast beef and smoked aubergine puree. Sweet options include Earl Grey tea and bergamot choux, Battenberg cake, orange and chocolate jaffa sponge, blueberry trifle and a lemon and poppy seed teacake. And of course, no afternoon tea would be complete without freshly-baked scones with homemade strawberry jam, lemon curd and clotted cream. From GBP 45 per person.
Prince and Princess Playtime
Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire offers a complimentary kids club for children ages 4 and over. This summer, the club will have a royal twist with a range of activities fit for a prince or princess. Each child will also have the chance to read King Charles’ children’s book – perfect for giving parents the chance to relax, knowing their little ones are having fun with a variety of arts, crafts and games.
Get into the Royal Spirit
New for 2023, The Library Bar is an elegant space to unwind, socialise and enjoy a tumbler of King Charles’ favourite Highgrove whiskey or royal themed cocktail, prepared by the Hotel’s expert mixologist and Bars Manager Surinder Virk, serving the art and poetry of taste. And why not soak up the fresh Hampshire air on the outdoor terrace and enjoy a regal nightcap with nature?
Let Them Eat Cake (or Crown)
Following on from the popularity of Four Seasons Executive Pastry Chef Maxime Gourlain’s chocolate crown to celebrate the jubilee, Chef Maxime will be once again creating a work of royal art with a commemorative chocolate crown. Displayed in the Hotel lobby, guests will have the chance to have their photo with the mouthwatering sculpture as they enjoy for the ultimate Instagramable moment.
