Following the closure of EU airspace to Russian aircraft and the reciprocal ban of EU aircraft by Russia, international flight options available to Russians are limited. After February 24, almost all international airlines and major aircraft builders left the Russian market.

By a wide margin, the most popular destination (or transit point) is Turkey. Of the more than 75,000 international departures from Russia so far in 2022, 25% of flights have flown to Turkey, according to flightradar24.

With holiday destinations outside Russia limited, flights to Antalya have boomed. Flights to Antalya peaked this year with 543 weekly departures from Russia in the final week of August. Izmir is a new destination for Russians, Red Wings Airlines and Pegasus added flights on this route recently.

39 international airlines fly to Russia this month. For instance, some of the neighboring countries continue flights to Russia: Belavia (Belarus), Buta Airways (Azerbaijan), Armenia (Armenia), Avia Air Traffic (Kyrgyzstan), Azal (Azerbaijan), Flyone Armenia (Armenia), Qazaq (Kazakhstan), Qanot Sharq (Uzbekistan), SCAT (Kazakhstan), Somon Air (Tajikistan), Uzbekistan Airways (Uzbekistan).

Other companies that continue flights to Russia include Air Algerie (Algeria), Air Arabia (ОАЕ), Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, Air Serbia (Serbia), AlMasria Universal Airlines (Egypt), AnadoluJet (Turkey), Ariana Afghan Airlines (Afghanistan), Conviasa (Venezuela), Corendon Airlines (Turkey), EgyptAir (Egypt), El Al Israel Airlines (Israel), Emirates Airlines (ОАЕ), Etihad Airways (ОАЕ), Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopia), FlyDubai (ОАЕ), Gulf Air (Bahrain), Iraqi Airways (Iraq), Mavi Gök Aviation (Turkey), Mahan Air (Iran), Mongolian Airlines (Mongolia), Nouvelair (Tunisia), Pegasus Airlines (Turkey), Southwind (Turkey) Qatar Airways (Qatar), Royal Jordanian (Jordan), Turkish Airlines (Turkey), Cham Wings (Syria) та Air China (China).

In November, S7 Airlines started selling tickets for flights to Antalya from Moscow and Novosibirsk. Sharm el-Sheikh was added to the list of cities on the route network of international destinations from Pulkovo Airport. 

Therefore, by the end of the month, 39 international airlines fly to Russia. Russian airlines are taking steps to dodge sanctions.
