Red Wings Airlines will start flights from Moscow to Izmir from December 23. So far, this is the first winter flight program to the resort. Therefore, it raises some questions among travel industry specialists: flights to Izmir were filled worse than others in Turkish destinations due to the fact that this resort is less known to Russian travelers.
Izmir is significantly cooler than the Antalya coast, and there are relatively few hotels with heated pools in the Izmir region that could attract travelers in winter.
Flights are planned to be operated once a week on Fridays from Domodedovo Airport on SSJ100 aircraft with a capacity of 100 seats. Departure from Moscow is scheduled for 9:05, travel time 5 hours 15 minutes.
“Izmir is the largest cultural and tourist center of Turkey on the Aegean coast. Red Wings will be the only Russian airline operating direct flights from Moscow to Izmir,” the company’s press service explained.
