Apple strudel, chicken schnitzel, chive bread or Brettljause – accompanied by a Melange, an apple juice “g’spritzt” or a glass of wine: as of 18 March, Austrian Airlines Economy Class passengers on European flights will be able to choose from the diverse and high-quality range of products offered by the “Austrian Melangerie”. The new catering concept is available on flights with a flight time of up to three hours. Quality, regionality and selection are the focus of the new offering. The fresh dishes are made by DO & CO’s “Henry for Austrian” brand, while coffee and tea are catered from Julius Meinl.
Individual selection and Austrian classics
Depending on their personal needs and tastes, Economy Class guests can choose from the “Austrian Melangerie” selection. On all European flights, sweet and salty Austrian snacks such as Mannerschnitten, Mirabell Mozartkugeln, Soletti Salzstangerl or organic almonds from the Lower Austrian company Landgarten, as well as soft drinks are available. On flights lasting 50 minutes or longer, an extended offer is available. For example, passengers can choose between an apple strudel, a vegetarian farmer’s roll, or an original Sacher cake. In addition, a selection of hot beverages from Julius Meinl, as well as Austrian wine and beer are offered. On flights of 85 minutes or more, main dishes such as a chicken schnitzel with parsley potatoes or an Alpine Poké Bowl with smoked trout are not to be forgotten. Alcoholic beverages such as gin and schnapps from the Reisetbauer master distillery complete the offer. Snacks will be available from 2 euros, drinks from 3 euros, the price for main courses start from 9 euros. Water is provided on request to passengers free of charge. As a sweet gift, all passengers will receive a chocolate taler from Salzburg Schokolade.
Nothing will change for Business Class passengers as a result of the change; DO & CO premium catering will remain in place. On flights with a duration of more than three hours, the current Economy Class service will also remain unchanged. This also applies to Austrian Airlines passengers on Austrian Holidays charter flights (recognizable by the four-digit flight number beginning with 2 or 9, e.g. OS9103 to Rhodes).
