Rome’s Ciampino airport has been evacuated and flights diverted and indefinitely delayed after three unexploded bombs believed to date from the WWII were found during the maintenance today.

At present, the intervention is expected to last three hours. Flights scheduled to arrive at or depart from Ciampino Airport during the closure time may be delayed or operate to/from Fiumicino Airport. Passengers are advised to contact their airline for further information about their flight. Additional updates will be provided in real time on the Aeroporti di Roma website, app and social media pages.
