Wizz Air Announces New Base in Krakow

Wizz Air announced today the further development of its newest base in Krakow. The airline will allocate the second Airbus A321aircraft to the Krakow base on 1 August, one and a half months ahead of the originally planned mid-September, while an additional – the third –Airbus A321 aircraft will join the Krakow fleet already in September 2019. Along with the above news, Wizz Air announced six new services to five countries in addition to the previously announced twelve services to nine countries. Tickets for the new routes can already be booked on wizzair.com or on the airline’s app from as low as PLN 89 / EUR 19.99*.

Wizz Air is devoted to Poland and as part of WIZZ’s expansion, the airline will continue to increase its operations Krakow to provide Polish customers with even more low-cost travel opportunities. The allocation of another Airbus A321 to the base represents a further investment of $120 million** and the creation of 42 new direct jobs with the airline and 100 indirect jobs in associated industries. The new Airbus A321 aircraft will support the operations of six new routes to Turin, Rome-Fiumicino, Tel Aviv, Eindhoven, Birmingham and Keflavík.

With this announcement WIZZ now offers 746,000 seats on its 18 routes from Krakow, while in total 11 million seats on 169 services to and from Poland in 2019, as it aims to create more opportunities for Polish travellers and their visitors to enjoy low fares and outstanding travel experience.

Wizz Air will continue recruiting young and ambitious candidates for its Krakow base. Crew recruitment days will be held on 22 March, 6, 16 and 30 April in Krakow.

Besides today’s Krakow announcement, Wizz Air announced the start of the long awaited Gdansk – London-Gatwick route with a daily service starting on 15 June 2019, from as low as PLN 89/GBP 17.99/EUR 19.99*.

Wizz Air recently added the first Airbus A321neo aircraft to its fleet which is the first plane from the 256 aircraft on order, making the airline the biggest customer of the A320neo family worldwide. The A320neo and its derivative aircraft family members have pioneered and incorporated the latest technologies, including its new generation engines and the industry’s reference cabin design, delivering 20 percent fuel cost savings alone. The A321neo also offers significant environmental benefits with nearly a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft Since entering into service in early 2016, Pratt and Whitney‘s GTF engine has demonstrated its promised ability to reduce fuel burn by 16 percent and nitrogen oxide emissions by 50 percent.
