Currently, storm Pia is wreaking havoc in northern Europe, leading to delays at airports, on railways, and on roads. Several European airports have canceled numerous flights due to the impact of storm Pia in northern Europe.
According to NL Times, at the largest international airport in the Netherlands, Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, over 320 flights have been canceled, and nearly 650 more flights are delayed due to the powerful storm Pia.
Rotterdam/The Hague Airport has also warned of possible delays and flight cancellations, and there were disruptions at Eindhoven Airport as well. In addition to airports, the storm has caused delays on railways and highways in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the Finnish publication Yle reported that Helsinki Airport expects delays for many flights due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. For instance, the Finnair flight from Helsinki-Vantaa to Brussels is estimated to depart nearly three hours late. However, precise information about the duration of delays is not available at the moment.
“The weather is unfavorable, and delays should be expected,” stated Finavia in their announcement.
