Peter the Great Cruise Ship Set for Completion and Trials

The PV300VD project’s four-deck cruise ship, Peter the Great, has set sail for completion and trials, with delivery to the customer, Moscow River Shipping Company, scheduled for spring 2024, according to Anatoly Mishanov, the head of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center.

“The hotel finishing work remains, which requires a significant workforce. Additionally, the shipyard houses warehouses with furniture, making it a logistical advantage. The handover to the customer is planned for the spring of 2024, and the ship will enter service at the beginning of the navigation season. The primary construction phase is completed at the Lotus Shipyard. The ship is ready for sea trials. The testing of ship systems will take place in several stages and will continue until December of this year. The liner is running smoothly. All commissioning work has been completed,” Mishanov told reporters on Tuesday.

The liner has been sent to the production site of the Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association (ASPO), a part of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (SSSR, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation), from the Lotus Shipyard (also part of SSSR).

Designed as a floating hotel, the PV300VD features full balconies/terraces, a forward observation lounge, a two-part “sun” deck, a swimming pool, and an observation lounge. The ship has a passenger capacity of 310 people, with 155 cabins of various classes.

The vessel has an overall length of 141.14 meters, a width of 16.82 meters, a side height of 5.5 meters, and a maximum draft of 3.2 meters. The crew and service personnel total 90 people, and the ship has a fuel autonomy of 15 days and a 10-day supply of other reserves.

Initially, it was planned for the customer to receive the vessel in April 2019, but the deadlines were repeatedly pushed back due to decisions to change ship equipment, necessitating a redesign, as well as several technical problems that arose at the shipyard. In 2019, the parties signed an additional agreement that increased the contract price to 4.2 billion rubles.
