Luxurious Sleeper Train The Espresso Cadore to Connect Rome and Cortina d’Ampezzo for Winter Skiing

Starting on December 15, a new upscale sleeper train, the Espresso Cadore, will operate from Rome to the renowned ski resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The initiative is part of Italy’s state-owned railway company Ferrovie dello Stato’s (FS) plans to introduce several new “tourist train” routes.

The Espresso Cadore train is scheduled to depart every Friday evening throughout the winter season, providing passengers with scenic mountain views upon arrival on Saturday mornings. FS is expected to release detailed information about schedules and ticket prices soon, with bookings available through the Trenitalia website starting November 18.

The 220-bed service will feature first- and second-class two-person carriages and four- and six-person sleepers. Passengers can enjoy amenities such as a restaurant car and an all-night bar. Catering to skiing enthusiasts, the ‘Cadore’ Express will provide storage and charging facilities for bikes and skis. Additionally, onboard services include e-bike rental and the option to purchase ski passes for last-minute travel.

Car carriages decommissioned in the 80s and 90s are being repurposed to create the train’s cabins, offering a unique and nostalgic travel experience.
