Aeroflot to Buy Over 300 Russian Aircraft

Aeroflot Airlines and the United Aircraft Corporation signed an agreement of intent within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum regarding the acquisition of 339 Russian-made aircraft. This is 5% more than previously announced plans.

Aeroflot will lease 210 MS-21s, 89 Superjet-NEWs and 40 Tu-214s from 2023 to 2030.

It is planned that the first two Superjet-NEWs will enter the carrier’s fleet next year. From 2024, it is planned to deliver six MS-21 aircraft and seven Tu-214 aircraft.

“Today we signed the largest agreement on the acquisition of domestic aircraft in the recent history of Aeroflot. This is an important step that sets an incentive and influences the future prospects for the development of civil aviation in Russia,” said Sergey Alexandrovsky, Aeroflot’s CEO.

Thus, even if the airline writes off or sells all currently registered Airbus-320/321 and Boeing-737, and also dismantle half of the wide-body fleet, its fleet will still almost double by 2030.
