On Monday, June 10, Seychelles Minister of Transport Antony Derjac met with an Aeroflot delegation led by Russian Ambassador to the Seychelles, Artem Kozhin, at the Botanical House in Mont Fleuri. The meeting focused on resuming the airline’s flights from October 2024, with a proposed frequency of three flights per week, according to a press release from the Seychelles Ministry of Transport.
Aeroflot has quietly suspended its flight program to the Seychelles, initially for the summer and then extending the suspension to October.
The press release mentioned that Aeroflot representatives had the opportunity to inform the minister about some operational issues they were facing. In response, the minister expressed confidence that the Seychelles government, through a multi-stakeholder approach, would find a way to address these challenges.
Russia is currently the third largest market for Seychelles tourism, following Germany, with 29,149 tourists (a 40% increase compared to the same period in 2023), and France, with 20,050 tourists (a 4% decrease compared to the same period in 2023), according to the country’s news agency.
