Edinburgh Airport has partnered with travel technology company Airportr and easyJet to launch a new door-to-flight baggage service, allowing passengers to have their checked luggage collected from home or a hotel and delivered directly to their flight.
The service, introduced ahead of the busy summer holiday season, enables easyJet passengers departing from Edinburgh to complete baggage check-in before leaving for the airport, eliminating the need to queue at bag drop.
Home-to-Flight and Arrival Delivery
Passengers travelling on easyJet flights from Edinburgh can arrange for their luggage to be collected from their home, hotel or another address and transported securely to the aircraft.
Customers flying to Geneva can also take advantage of a baggage delivery service on arrival, with checked luggage transported from the airport directly to their final destination.
Improving the Airport Experience
Edinburgh Airport said the new service is expected to reduce congestion in landside areas, shorten check-in queues and improve passenger flow during peak travel periods.
The airport handled a record 16.9 million passengers in 2025, with daily traffic expected to exceed last year’s peak levels during the 2026 summer season.
Peter Barnes, Chief Operating Officer at Edinburgh Airport, said the airport is the first in Scotland to introduce a home baggage collection service, giving passengers greater convenience during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Part of Wider Airport Investment
The launch follows several recent investments at Edinburgh Airport, including a £5.8 million redevelopment of the check-in hall that introduced 50 self-service kiosks before the 2025 summer season, as well as new technology designed to improve the passenger journey from the terminal entrance to the departure gate.
Growing Demand for Off-Airport Check-In
According to Airportr, customer research indicates strong demand for services that simplify airport journeys. The company said 76% of passengers travelling with checked baggage want to reach their departure gate within 45 minutes of arriving at the airport, while 67% of Airportr users choose the service primarily to avoid carrying heavy luggage through the terminal.
The expansion builds on Airportr’s existing partnership with easyJet and further extends the airline’s range of digital travel services across its UK network.
