Air New Zealand has revealed the new Business Premier and Economy cabin interiors that will be installed across its Boeing 777-300ER fleet as part of a major refurbishment programme beginning in 2027.
The upgraded cabins feature redesigned premium seating, larger in-flight entertainment screens, enhanced connectivity and improved passenger comfort. The first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER is scheduled to enter service in May 2027 following modifications starting in March.
New Business Premier Cabin
The refreshed Business Premier cabin will retain 44 seats but introduce Collins Aerospace’s Elevation seats, each offering a 43-inch pitch and converting into a fully flat bed.
Every seat will feature a sliding privacy door, while centre seats will include movable privacy dividers for passengers travelling together. Customers will also have access to an 18-inch in-flight entertainment screen with Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports.
Updated Economy Experience
The Economy cabin will feature 246 ergonomically designed seats supplied by ZIM Aircraft Seating, increasing capacity by two seats compared with the current layout.
Passengers will benefit from upgraded 13-inch entertainment screens and USB-C charging at every seat. Economy Stretch seats will offer a 35-inch pitch, while Standard Economy seating will provide between 31 and 32 inches of pitch.
Premium Economy Remains Refreshed
Air New Zealand said its Premium Economy cabin will remain largely unchanged following a recent refurbishment programme, although the updated aircraft configuration will include two fewer Premium Economy seats.
Fleet Retrofit Begins in 2027
The airline plans to begin retrofitting its first Boeing 777-300ER in March 2027, with the aircraft expected to return to commercial service by May 2027.
The refurbishment programme forms part of Air New Zealand’s wider investment in modernising its long-haul fleet and enhancing the passenger experience across all cabin classes.
