SunExpress will launch the first-ever scheduled direct flights between Tashkent and Izmir on August 1, marking the airline’s debut in Uzbekistan and expanding air connectivity between the two countries.
According to Uzbekistan Airports, the Turkish carrier will operate four weekly flights using Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with 189 seats.
Four Weekly Flights
Flights will depart Izmir at 20:30, arriving in Tashkent at 03:10 the following day. The return service will leave the Uzbek capital at 04:30 and land in Izmir at 08:05 local time.
One-way fares are expected to start from approximately 7,500 Turkish lira (around US$147).
SunExpress Enters Uzbekistan
The new route represents SunExpress’ first scheduled service to Uzbekistan, making it the third Turkish airline to operate regular flights to the Central Asian country alongside Turkish Airlines and AJet.
The airline is also considering launching scheduled services to airports in Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley from early next year, further expanding its presence in the market.
Growing Interest in Uzbekistan
SunExpress’ entry reflects increasing interest among international airlines in Uzbekistan as demand for tourism and business travel continues to grow.
The new service also provides travellers with direct access to Izmir, one of Türkiye’s largest cities and a gateway to the country’s Aegean coast, while offering onward connections across the SunExpress network.
