Meliá Opens First INNSiDE Hotel in Malta with 192 Rooms

Meliá Hotels International has opened INNSiDE by Meliá Bugibba, bringing the lifestyle-led brand to Malta for the first time. The 192-room hotel opened on 12 July 2026 in Bugibba Square, a short walk from the seafront on the island’s north coast.

The new property adds to Meliá’s growing Mediterranean portfolio and is aimed at travellers seeking a design-led stay in a busy coastal resort. The company said the hotel combines modern accommodation with a central location close to shops, restaurants and the waterfront.

The opening marks the debut of the INNSiDE by Meliá brand in Malta, expanding the Spanish group’s reach into another European leisure market. It also gives Bugibba a new international hotel offering in an area that already attracts holidaymakers for its beaches, promenade and links to nearby attractions.

The hotel forms part of Meliá’s wider strategy to grow its lifestyle and urban resort brands in destinations with strong year-round tourism demand. INNSiDE properties typically focus on flexible spaces, contemporary design and a casual guest experience rather than traditional full-service luxury.

Bugibba is one of Malta’s best-known resort districts and draws visitors looking for easy access to the sea, transport connections and day trips around the island. The new opening places Meliá in a location that benefits from both beach travel and short-stay city-style demand.

The company has been extending its international footprint through a mix of new openings and brand growth in key leisure markets. Malta is the latest addition, and the debut of INNSiDE by Meliá there gives the group a stronger presence in the central Mediterranean.

The 192-room hotel is expected to appeal to couples, solo travellers and families seeking a base in a lively part of the island. Its location in Bugibba Square puts guests close to the resort centre while keeping the seafront within walking distance.

With the launch, Meliá adds another flag to its European network and strengthens its position in Malta’s competitive hotel market. The opening also underlines the continued expansion of lifestyle brands across sun-and-sea destinations.
