Ottawa has strengthened its transatlantic connectivity with the launch of Air Transat’s new nonstop service between London Gatwick and Canada’s capital.
The seasonal route operates three times a week—on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays—through 23 October 2026, providing another direct link between Europe and Ottawa.
Third Transatlantic Route for Ottawa
The new service becomes the third nonstop transatlantic connection from Ottawa International Airport. It joins Air France’s flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Ottawa, as well as Air Canada’s direct service linking London Heathrow with the Canadian capital.
The additional route offers travellers greater flexibility while expanding Ottawa’s access to one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs.
Boost for Meetings and Events
Ottawa Tourism said the new connection will improve access for association, corporate and incentive event organisers, who often prioritise destinations with reliable international air links.
The organisation believes the new Gatwick service will strengthen Ottawa’s position as a destination for international conferences, meetings and incentive travel by making the city more accessible from overseas markets.
With three transatlantic services now operating, Ottawa offers improved connectivity from both France and the United Kingdom, providing more travel options for delegates and international visitors.
Supporting Tourism Growth
The new route also reflects Air Transat’s continued investment in transatlantic leisure and business travel. Operating three times weekly, the schedule offers convenient options for both short business trips and longer leisure stays.
For travellers departing from London, the Gatwick connection complements existing services from Heathrow, further improving access to Canada’s capital during the busy summer and autumn travel seasons.
Ottawa Tourism has identified improved international air connectivity as a key element of its strategy to attract more overseas visitors and business events. The addition of the Gatwick route further enhances the city’s competitiveness among North American destinations seeking international meetings, conferences and incentive programmes.
