Firefighters continue efforts to fully extinguish a wildfire in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone after successfully putting out two of the three affected areas, Ukrainian emergency authorities said.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), crews remain focused on the final localized hotspot, where work is continuing to extinguish burning forest litter and windfallen timber while preventing the fire from spreading.
The SES confirmed that two additional fire hotspots have now been fully extinguished.
Radiation Levels Remain Normal
Authorities said the situation is under control and that radiation levels throughout the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone remain within normal limits.
Emergency personnel continue to monitor the affected area while carrying out additional preventive measures to reduce the risk of reignition.
Monitoring Continues
Firefighting teams remain on site as operations continue at the final hotspot. Officials said the localized fire is being closely monitored until it is fully extinguished.
The State Emergency Service said it will continue monitoring conditions in the exclusion zone and maintain preventive measures to ensure the situation remains under control.
