Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas has appointed hospitality veteran Hervé Duboscq as its new General Manager, as the luxury beachfront resort looks to strengthen its position among Malaysia‘s leading upscale destinations.
Duboscq brings more than three decades of international hospitality experience to the role, having held senior leadership positions across Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean with some of the industry’s best-known hotel brands.
His appointment comes as Anantara Desaru Coast continues to build on a series of recent industry accolades and growing recognition within the regional luxury travel market.
More Than 30 Years Of International Experience
A French national, Duboscq began his hospitality career with global hotel brands before spending more than 14 years with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Most recently, he served as General Manager of Shangri-La Colombo in Sri Lanka, overseeing one of the brand’s flagship properties in South Asia.
Throughout his career, he has managed hotels and resorts across Oman, Singapore, Indonesia, the Maldives and New Caledonia, developing expertise in luxury hospitality operations, guest experience and team leadership.

At Anantara Desaru Coast, Duboscq will focus on enhancing the resort’s guest experience while supporting its long-term growth strategy within Malaysia’s luxury tourism sector.
His leadership approach combines operational excellence with a strong emphasis on authentic destination experiences, aligning with Anantara’s philosophy of connecting travellers with local culture and heritage.
The resort plans to continue expanding its portfolio of curated experiences that showcase Malaysia’s cultural traditions, natural landscapes and coastal lifestyle.

Nicholas Smith, Vice President of Operations, Asia at Minor Hotels, said Duboscq’s international experience and leadership qualities made him a strong fit for the role.
According to Smith, the appointment reflects the company’s commitment to placing experienced leaders at some of its most distinctive properties across the region.
