Minor Hotels has signed a management agreement with MK Group to operate two resort properties on Europe’s Adriatic coast, marking the group’s official entry into both Croatia and Slovenia.
The two hotels will reopen for the 2026 season next month and will be relaunched under the Anantara and Minor Reserve Collection brands following refurbishment in early 2027. The move aligns with Minor Hotels’ wider strategy to accelerate its European resort growth and expand beyond its traditional strength in city hotels.
The additions also strengthen Minor Hotels’ Mediterranean portfolio at a time when the company is targeting destinations benefiting from strong leisure demand and a growing appetite for distinctive luxury experiences in Central and Southeastern Europe.
One of the properties is located in the Slovenian resort town of Portorož. Hotel Palace Portorož features 183 rooms, a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and three restaurants and bars. The hotel also offers beach access and a meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) area, positioning it for both leisure travellers and business events.
Following its refurbishment, the hotel will reopen as Hotel Palace Portoroz, Minor Reserve Collection Slovenia.
The second property, Adriatic Istria Resort, is located in Savudrija, Croatia, close to Portorož. The 186-room hotel includes four bars, three restaurants, a wellness centre, pools, a spa, direct beach access and event facilities, catering to both leisure and corporate guests. It will be relaunched as Anantara Adriatic Istria Resort.
Both resorts are owned by MK Group, a diversified company operating across tourism, real estate, renewable energy, agriculture and food sectors in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro.
Minor Hotels CEO Dillip Rajakarier said the agreement reflects the company’s push to build scale in the region.
“The decision to accelerate our presence in Central and Southeastern Europe is driven by strong tourism growth and rising demand for distinctive luxury hospitality experiences,” he said. “We are delighted to be partnering with MK Group on this unique opportunity to enter the Adriatic, and I am confident that the synergy between our teams will bring about a distinctive and enhanced experience at these two outstanding properties.”
The resorts are accessible via Trieste Airport in Italy, Portorož Airport in Slovenia, and Croatia’s Pula or Rijeka airports, strengthening their appeal for both short breaks and longer Mediterranean stays.
