Finca La Bobadilla Unveils Luxury Transformation in the Heart of Andalusia

Luxury countryside retreat Finca La Bobadilla has unveiled an extensive transformation following its acquisition by Spanish boutique hospitality group Único Hotels, marking a new chapter for one of Andalusia’s most iconic rural estates.

Set among rolling hills, Mediterranean woodland and more than 2,000 ancient olive trees, the property occupies a privileged location in the heart of southern Spain. Guests can reach Antequera’s AVE high-speed rail station in just 15 minutes, while Málaga, Granada and Córdoba are all within easy reach, making the estate an ideal base for exploring Andalusia’s cultural treasures.

Único Hotels, the family-owned hospitality group founded by Pau Guardans and now led alongside his children Carlota and Alex Guardans, acquired the estate in early 2025 and officially assumed management in February of the same year. Since then, the company has completed a comprehensive renovation designed to elevate the guest experience while preserving the property’s distinctive Andalusian character.

A Design-Led Reinvention Rooted in Andalusian Heritage

The redesign was overseen by Único Hotels’ in-house creative team under the direction of Pilar García-Nieto. The project focuses on strengthening the connection between the hotel and its natural surroundings through the use of authentic local materials, handcrafted details and a warm, residential aesthetic.

Natural elements including wicker, raffia, rattan, noble woods and handcrafted ceramics sourced from regional artisans play a central role throughout the interiors. Earthy tones, textured wall finishes, preserved timber beam ceilings, natural stone surfaces and terracotta-inspired flooring create a timeless atmosphere that feels deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

Traditional craftsmanship remains visible throughout the property, while contemporary touches ensure a refined and luxurious guest experience.

Redesigned Rooms and Suites Offer Greater Comfort

Guest rooms and suites have been completely reimagined with larger layouts, improved spatial flow and expanded living areas designed to enhance comfort and privacy.

Many accommodations now feature generous terraces that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the surrounding countryside.

Natural linen and cotton textiles, bespoke furniture with artisanal detailing and carefully layered lighting schemes contribute to a calm and inviting atmosphere. Bathrooms have also been upgraded with handcrafted ceramics, elegant minimalist finishes and tactile materials that enhance the sensory experience.

Adding a distinctive artistic dimension, works from Xavier Guardans’ acclaimed “Horses” series are displayed throughout the property, celebrating the strong equestrian traditions of Andalusia.

Public Spaces Reimagined for Relaxation

Beyond the guestrooms, the renovation has transformed many of the estate’s communal areas.

The Mozarabic-inspired lobby now welcomes visitors with warmer lighting, refined finishes and a more intimate atmosphere. The bar, library and billiards lounge have been reorganised to encourage a slower pace and more relaxed social interactions, while abundant greenery strengthens the connection between indoor spaces and the surrounding countryside.

Throughout the property, the emphasis is on creating calm, inviting environments where guests can disconnect from daily life and embrace the rhythms of rural Andalusia.

Three Signature Restaurants Receive Complete Redesign

The hotel’s culinary offering has also undergone a significant evolution. The estate’s three restaurants — El Cortijo, La Jara and El Mirador — have all been redesigned with updated layouts, furnishings, lighting and décor.

Leading the gastronomic direction is acclaimed Spanish chef Óscar Velasco, whose menus showcase seasonal Andalusian ingredients and traditional regional flavours through a contemporary lens.

The dining experience is designed to celebrate local produce while reinforcing the property’s strong connection to the culture and traditions of southern Spain.

Authentic Local Experiences at Every Touchpoint

One of the key goals of the transformation has been to deepen the estate’s relationship with local producers and artisans.

Breakfast now features pastries and the region’s famous Antequera molletes sourced from Tahona de Fuente Camacho, a family bakery in Loja with more than 70 years of history. Guests are also welcomed with handcrafted sweets prepared by the nuns of the Convent of Archidona, offering a personal introduction to local culinary traditions.

These carefully chosen details reflect Único Hotels’ commitment to creating authentic experiences that connect guests with the people, heritage and traditions of the destination.

A New Era for One of Andalusia’s Most Iconic Rural Retreats

With its renewed focus on design, gastronomy, craftsmanship and local culture, Finca La Bobadilla aims to strengthen its position as one of Spain’s leading countryside luxury hotels.

The transformation balances modern luxury with a strong sense of place, offering guests a refined rural escape surrounded by some of Andalusia’s most beautiful landscapes while remaining within easy reach of the region’s most celebrated cities and cultural attractions.
