Universal Orlando Resort is making a significant operational change to one of its most popular attractions, removing Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure from its Express Pass programme beginning 1 July 2026.
The change means guests will no longer be able to use Universal’s paid Express Pass service to access shorter wait times for the Harry Potter-themed coaster attraction.
Popular Harry Potter Ride Removed From Express Pass
Universal Orlando’s Express Pass allows visitors to enter dedicated shorter lines at participating attractions after purchasing the add-on separately from standard park admission.
The service currently includes access to most major attractions across the resort, including high-demand rides such as Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.
However, Universal recently updated its official Express Pass attraction list, removing Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure from participating rides.
The operational change officially takes effect on 1 July 2026.
One Of Universal’s Highest-Demand Attractions
Located inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure remains one of the resort’s most popular and consistently high-wait attractions.
The coaster combines indoor and outdoor sections with multiple launches, animatronics and storytelling elements based on the Harry Potter franchise.
Since opening, the attraction has frequently generated some of the longest standby wait times at Universal Orlando Resort.
Other Harry Potter Attractions Still Included
While Hagrid’s ride is being removed from the Express Pass programme, other Wizarding World attractions continue participating.
Universal’s website still lists Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey as part of the Express Pass offering.
No official explanation has yet been provided for the decision to remove Hagrid’s attraction from the programme.
Operational Strategy Likely Linked To Demand Management
Theme park analysts suggest the move may be intended to manage extreme demand levels and maintain ride capacity efficiency.
Highly popular attractions with limited throughput often face operational challenges when balancing standby, Express and accessibility queues simultaneously.
The change may also affect guest planning strategies, particularly for visitors purchasing Express Passes primarily to reduce wait times at headline attractions.
Universal Continues Preparing For Future Growth
The update comes as Universal Orlando continues expanding operations ahead of major future developments, including the opening of the new Epic Universe theme park.
Changes to Express Pass participation and attraction operations are expected to remain part of the resort’s broader crowd management and guest experience strategy.
