Dubai has officially opened the new Khor Al Mamzar beachfront at Al Mamzar Corniche as part of a major coastal redevelopment programme aimed at expanding public waterfront access across the emirate.
The destination is now open to residents, visitors and international tourists and forms part of Dubai Municipality’s broader strategy to modernise beachfront infrastructure under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
One of the project’s most distinctive features is the introduction of a permanent women-only beach area, which local authorities describe as a global first.
Women-Only Beach Operates Under Strict Privacy Rules
The dedicated women-only beach section has been designed with strict privacy and access measures.
Entry is limited exclusively to women and young children, while boys under the age of six are permitted only when accompanied by a parent.
Men are not allowed inside the area at any time.
The site is fully enclosed with fencing to reduce outside visibility, while a strict no-photography policy is enforced throughout the beach.
All operational staff, including lifeguards and security personnel, are female, supporting what authorities describe as a controlled and comfortable environment for visitors.
New Beachfront Includes Sports And Leisure Facilities
Beyond the women-only section, the wider Khor Al Mamzar development includes a broad range of leisure, fitness and family-oriented facilities.
The waterfront features walking, running and cycling tracks extending along the coastline, alongside sports facilities including padel courts, volleyball areas and outdoor gyms.
A floating walkway also links the Corniche with the lagoon area, creating an additional scenic route for pedestrians.
The site further includes children’s play zones and multiple food and beverage outlets designed to encourage longer visits.
Smart Technology And Safety Infrastructure Installed
Dubai Municipality said safety and accessibility were central elements of the project design.
Lifeguard towers and emergency call points have been installed throughout swimming areas, while lighting systems support nighttime use of the beachfront.
Authorities have also introduced smart monitoring technologies aimed at strengthening security while maintaining an open public environment.
Part Of AED 3 Billion Coastal Investment Plan
The project forms part of a wider AED 3 billion coastal redevelopment programme linked to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The long-term strategy focuses on expanding public green and blue spaces while improving liveability and tourism infrastructure across the city.
Once fully completed, the wider Al Mamzar Beaches redevelopment is expected to significantly increase annual visitor capacity along Dubai’s coastline.
Dubai Expands Women-Focused Public Services
The women-only beach also reflects a broader pattern of women-focused public services already operating across Dubai.
One example is the city’s “pink taxi” initiative, where female-driven taxis primarily serve women and families while also supporting employment opportunities for women within the transport sector.
Officials say the latest beachfront development aims to combine tourism growth, public accessibility and cultural considerations within Dubai’s rapidly expanding urban landscape.
