Milan Bergamo Airport is set to welcome a new airline partner as Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flyadeal launches its first-ever operations in Italy with new nonstop routes to Jeddah and Riyadh.
The airline has selected Milan Bergamo as its gateway to Milan and Northern Italy, further strengthening the airport’s rapidly growing connectivity with the Gulf region.
Flights to Jeddah on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast will begin on 1 July, followed by services to the capital city Riyadh starting on 2 July.
New Saudi Routes Operated By Airbus A320neo Aircraft
The two routes will each operate three times per week using next-generation Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Flights to Jeddah will run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while Riyadh services will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The launch marks the first time flyadeal has entered the Italian market and adds Saudi Arabia as the 45th country served by Milan Bergamo Airport during the 2026 summer season.
Airport Expands Gulf Region Presence
The new routes are expected to support both inbound tourism and outbound travel demand between Italy and Saudi Arabia.
Saudi travellers will gain direct access to Northern Italy’s major leisure and business destinations, while passengers from Italy will benefit from improved access to Saudi Arabia and onward connections across the Middle East and Pakistan through flyadeal’s growing network.
Milan Bergamo Airport’s location around 45 minutes from central Milan also provides convenient access to destinations including Venice, Verona, Lake Como and the Dolomites.
Airport officials said the routes are also expected to generate strong demand from communities with close family, cultural and religious links to Saudi Arabia.
Further Gulf Expansion Planned
The launch forms part of Milan Bergamo Airport’s wider strategy to strengthen air links with Gulf markets.
Next week, the airport is also set to introduce new services to Kuwait City operated by Jazeera Airways.
Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation, Marketing and Communications at SACBO, described flyadeal’s arrival as a major milestone for the airport.
“We are delighted to welcome flyadeal to Milan Bergamo Airport as the airline makes its debut in the Italian market,” Cattaneo said.
He added that becoming the first airport in Italy to host flyadeal reflects Milan Bergamo’s growing attractiveness to international carriers targeting Northern Italy’s leisure, business and visiting friends and relatives travel markets.
Saudi Arabia Continues Expanding Global Air Connectivity
The expansion comes as Saudi Arabian airlines continue rapidly growing their international networks as part of the Kingdom’s wider tourism and aviation development strategy.
Low-cost carriers are playing an increasingly important role in connecting Saudi Arabia with major European tourism and business markets as demand for travel between the regions continues rising.
