Minor Hotels has announced the signing of Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences, marking a major expansion for the hospitality group in Egypt and bringing the Anantara brand to the Red Sea coast.
Scheduled to open in May 2030, the project will include 300 hotel keys and 150 branded residential units within the Somabay integrated resort destination.
The development represents a continued partnership between Minor Hotels and Somabay Hotel Company SAE as both groups seek to strengthen Somabay’s position within the international luxury travel market.
Luxury Resort And Residential Offering
Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences will feature a mix of sea-view and lagoon-facing guest rooms alongside beach villas and pool villas.
The resort’s accommodation portfolio will also include a signature Grand Royal Beach & Pool Villa.
In addition to the hotel component, the development will introduce branded residences ranging from apartments to private beachfront villas with dedicated boat dock piers designed for long-term stays and ownership living.
Dining, Wellness And Family Facilities
The resort plans include a broad collection of dining venues and social spaces supported by wellness, leisure and family-focused amenities.
The project is intended to combine luxury hospitality with residential living within Somabay’s wider master-planned resort environment.
Somabay is located around 45 minutes from Hurghada International Airport and benefits from strong connectivity with European and Middle Eastern markets.
Minor Hotels Expands In Egypt
Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, said the partnership reflects the company’s strategy to expand Anantara into destinations suited to both luxury hotels and branded residences.
He described Somabay as an ideal location for an integrated hospitality and residential concept due to sustained international demand and strong tourism fundamentals.
