Valencia Airport handled more than 1.15 million passengers in April as international travel demand continued driving strong growth across Spain’s aviation sector.
The airport recorded a total of 1,150,985 passengers during the month, representing a 10.7% increase compared with April 2025.
International Passenger Traffic Continues Rising
International traffic remained the dominant market segment at Valencia Airport, growing by 13.6% year-on-year to reach 886,063 passengers.
Domestic traffic also increased during the month, with 263,349 passengers recorded on flights within Spain, up 2.5% compared with the same period last year.
All figures relate to commercial passenger operations.
Italy Leads International Markets
Italy ranked as Valencia Airport’s largest international market in April with 194,306 passengers travelling between the two countries.
The United Kingdom followed with 112,709 passengers, while the Netherlands recorded 94,488 travellers.
Germany and France also remained among the airport’s strongest international markets, registering 86,402 and 77,940 passengers respectively.
Flight Operations Continue Expanding
The airport handled 8,749 aircraft movements during April, representing growth of 8.3% compared with April 2025.
The increase reflects continued airline expansion and growing demand for travel to Valencia and Spain’s Mediterranean coast.
Strong Passenger Numbers For 2026
During the first four months of 2026, Valencia Airport handled 3,701,152 passengers, a 6.6% increase compared with the same period last year.
Aircraft movements between January and April totalled 29,017 flights, representing growth of 3% year-on-year.
Aena Group Reports Wider Network Growth
Across the wider Aena Group airport network, passenger traffic reached 33.5 million travellers during April 2026.
The airport operator said Spain’s airports handled more than 28.2 million passengers during the month, while cargo traffic and aircraft movements also increased.
Aena noted that part of the passenger growth seen during the first months of the year was influenced by travellers switching from rail to air transport following the January train accident in Spain.
