Cambodia Unveils New Green Season Strategy To Attract Tourists Year-Round

Cambodia has officially launched its “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season 2026” campaign as the country looks to strengthen tourism during the quieter May-to-October period and position itself as a year-round destination.

The campaign was launched in Phnom Penh at Chaktomuk Walk Street during an event led by Tourism Minister Huot Hak and attended by government officials, diplomats, tourism representatives and members of the private sector.

Cambodia Promotes Green Season Tourism

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the initiative is designed to encourage both domestic and international travellers to explore Cambodia during the country’s rainy season.

Officials said the “Green Season” branding reflects a broader strategy focused on showcasing Cambodia’s landscapes, nature, ecotourism experiences and wellness-focused travel opportunities.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak described the campaign as more than a simple seasonal promotion, calling it a “shift in mindset” aimed at redefining tourism during the period.

Focus On Nature, Ecotourism And Relaxation

The ministry says the season offers visitors greener scenery, fresher conditions and quieter travel experiences compared with peak tourism months.

Authorities are particularly promoting nature tourism, ecotourism and wellness travel experiences during the campaign period.

The strategy also aims to spread tourism activity more evenly across the year and reduce seasonal concentration.

Tourism Sector Continues Recovering

Cambodia’s tourism sector has shown strong recovery momentum following the pandemic years.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the country welcomed more than 5.6 million international visitors during 2025.

In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Cambodia received more than one million international tourists and over six million domestic travellers, representing growth of more than 58% compared with the same period in 2025.

The country previously recorded more than 6.6 million international arrivals in 2019 before global travel disruption impacted tourism flows.

Private Sector Encouraged To Support Campaign

The Tourism Ministry has called on hotels, restaurants, tour operators and travel agencies to create promotional packages and special offers to support the Green Season campaign.

Authorities also urged tourism businesses to maintain high hygiene standards, quality service and reasonable pricing in order to strengthen visitor confidence and encourage repeat travel.

Hak described the initiative as part of a wider ambition to turn Cambodia’s Green Season into what he called a “Green Gold Season” supporting jobs, economic growth and sustainable tourism development.
