Singapore Airlines will introduce next-generation in-flight connectivity using Starlink technology from the first quarter of 2027, significantly upgrading the onboard digital experience across its long-haul fleet.
The rollout will cover Airbus A350-900 long-haul, A350-900 ultra-long-range and A380 aircraft, marking a major step in the airline’s ongoing investment in passenger experience.
Faster, Seamless Connectivity At 40,000 Feet
Powered by Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite network, the new system will deliver high-speed broadband with the potential for up to 1 Gbps per aircraft antenna.
This will enable passengers to stream video, use social media, play online games and transfer large files with minimal latency, from take-off to landing.
The technology is supported by a constellation of more than 10,000 satellites, designed to provide consistent global coverage and improved reliability compared to traditional satellite systems.
Complimentary Wi-Fi Across All Cabin Classes
Singapore Airlines confirmed that complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi will remain available for premium cabin passengers, PPS Club members and KrisFlyer members travelling in all classes on Starlink-equipped aircraft.
The upgrade is expected to enhance an already extensive free connectivity offering, positioning the airline among the leaders in onboard digital services.
Strategic Investment In Passenger Experience
The move reflects growing demand for high-quality connectivity during flights, particularly on long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes where passengers increasingly expect uninterrupted access to digital services.
By integrating Starlink, Singapore Airlines aims to provide a more consistent and high-performance experience, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
Industry Shift Toward High-Speed Connectivity
The adoption of low Earth orbit satellite technology is part of a wider trend in aviation, as airlines invest in faster, more reliable internet solutions to differentiate their services.
With improved bandwidth and lower latency, systems like Starlink are reshaping expectations around in-flight connectivity, turning aircraft cabins into fully connected environments.
The rollout signals Singapore Airlines’ continued focus on innovation and premium service, as competition intensifies in the global long-haul market.
