Jetstar Launches 48-Hour ‘Return for Free’ Sale With 75,000 Discounted Fares

Jetstar has launched one of its biggest annual promotions, unveiling a 48-hour “Return for Free” sale to mark its 22nd anniversary.

The limited-time offer includes more than 75,000 discounted fares across domestic and international routes, allowing customers who purchase an outbound starter fare to receive their return flight at no additional cost on selected travel dates.

The sale officially opened to the public at midnight on May 4 (AEST) and will run until 11:59pm on May 6, unless fares sell out earlier.

Among the lowest-priced domestic deals are routes such as Adelaide to Melbourne (Avalon) from $64, Sydney to Ballina Byron from $86 and Brisbane to Newcastle from $105. Other discounted options include Gold Coast to Sydney, Canberra to the Gold Coast and Brisbane to Cairns.

Longer domestic routes are also included, with fares such as Perth to Sydney starting from $289.

Internationally, the promotion features competitive pricing to key leisure destinations. Flights from Perth to Denpasar start from $249, while routes from Darwin and Melbourne (Avalon) to Bali are also included. Further afield, travellers can access deals such as Cairns to Osaka, Sydney to Phuket, Brisbane to Seoul and Brisbane to Tokyo.

Jetstar’s “Return for Free” campaign is one of its most recognisable promotions and is designed to stimulate demand during key booking periods, particularly for leisure travel.

As competition intensifies among low-cost carriers, such large-scale fare sales continue to play a central role in driving bookings and maintaining market share, especially for short-haul and holiday-focused routes.
