The iconic Palazzo Versace Gold Coast is set for a new chapter as it prepares to reopen under Hilton’s luxury brand LXR Hotels & Resorts in early 2027.

Located on The Spit in Gold Coast, the landmark property is currently operating as The Imperial Hotel Gold Coast after the Versace brand exited the local market in mid-2023.

Under a new agreement with Hilton and Islander Hotel Trading Pty Ltd, the 200-room hotel will undergo renovations before joining the LXR portfolio as the brand’s first property in Australia.

The hotel is known for its striking design, combining grand neoclassical architecture with Italian-inspired interiors. The upcoming refurbishment is expected to retain the property’s dramatic style while introducing LXR’s signature luxury experience focused on personalized service and locally inspired storytelling.

LXR Hotels & Resorts operates as a curated collection of independent luxury properties within Hilton’s portfolio. Each hotel is designed to reflect the heritage, culture and character of its destination while offering bespoke guest experiences.

For Hilton, the Gold Coast property represents a significant expansion of its luxury presence in Australia’s leisure market. The destination is already one of the country’s most popular tourism hubs, known for its beaches, waterfront resorts and high-end hospitality offerings.

Globally, LXR Hotels & Resorts currently has 36 properties either open or in development. Recent additions include Cameo Beverly Hills and Sax Paris, marking the brand’s entry into France.

Additional openings are expected later this year, including Sandblu Santorini in Santorini and The Den Bengaluru in Bengaluru.

Once complete, the redevelopment of the former Palazzo Versace property is expected to position the hotel as one of Australia’s most distinctive luxury resorts, combining its well-known architectural identity with Hilton’s growing global luxury portfolio.
