Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi Unveils Saikindō, a Japanese Listening-Bar

Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island has debuted Saikindō, a high-fidelity cocktail lounge shaped by Japan’s iconic listening bars and positioned as a new cultural destination in the capital. Designed as more than a traditional nightlife venue, Saikindō aims to merge sound, spirit, and space into a unified sensory experience interpreted through the lens of contemporary hospitality.

At the core of the concept is Omotenashi, the Japanese philosophy of wholehearted hospitality. Guests are greeted through thoughtful rituals, complimentary welcome snacks, and personalised beverage recommendations intended to create a sense of warmth, belonging, and genuine connection. The hotel team describes Saikindō as a redefinition of luxury nightlife in Abu Dhabi, built around intimacy, intention, and meticulous craft.

The beverage programme will be led by beverage director Marco Corallo, an alumnus of Four Seasons Jumeirah and London’s award-winning Artesian, working alongside head mixologist Ann Pinsuda, formerly of The Bamboo Bar in Bangkok. Together they will introduce a technology-driven approach to cocktail creation, using AI to translate the tempo and tone of music into flavour expressions. The result is a collection of cocktails designed to resonate both sonically and sensorially, prepared with seasonal Japanese ingredients and offered in alcoholic and zero-proof formats.

The menu will spotlight modern Japanese cocktails, rare international spirits, sake, and shōchū, with the team emphasising a balance of innovation and authenticity. The venue’s design further reinforces this ethos. Saikindō draws inspiration from the Metabolism movement, Japan’s modular and adaptable architectural style, blended with the refined warmth of mid-century craftsmanship. Rich wooden panelling, custom acoustic treatments, embroidered wall coverings, and bespoke furnishings define the interiors.

In a contrasting layer, the space adopts stylistic cues from Japan’s Bosozoku biker subculture, adding a rebellious counterpoint to the lounge’s classic spy-style elegance. This duality appears in lighting, material patterns, and even bespoke fashion pieces displayed throughout the bar, creating an environment that is both polished and provocatively energetic.

Sound remains central to Saikindō’s identity. The venue will host vinyl listening nights, guest DJ takeovers, and record collectors’ gatherings, as well as intimate spirit tastings and masterclasses. Each activation is curated to align with the lounge’s sound-forward philosophy, merging music and mixology into an immersive, narrative-driven experience.

General manager Bob Suri described the launch as a milestone for the property and for Abu Dhabi’s cultural landscape. “Bringing Saikindō to life has been an inspiring journey of creativity, collaboration and innovation. With the support of our ownership and the Department of Culture and Tourism, we’ve created a destination that celebrates craftsmanship, sound, and connection – a first of its kind for Abu Dhabi.”
