Astrology and Mysticism Shape How the World Will Travel in 2026

Travel in 2026 will become a reflection of individuality. According to Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2026 report, next year’s vacations won’t just be about destinations — they’ll be about identity, emotion, and technology. Based on insights from more than 29,000 travelers across 33 countries, the study paints a vivid picture of what the next chapter of global tourism will look like: deeply personal, immersive, and unafraid to experiment.

For its tenth annual edition, Booking.com spotlights ten defining trends. Among them is the rise of “Romantasy Retreats,” where travelers step into worlds inspired by fantasy literature — think enchanted castles and masquerade balls straight out of myth and fiction. Meanwhile, “Humanoid Homes” signal a futuristic shift in vacation rentals, where robotic chefs, cleaning bots, and AI-driven sustainability systems become part of the hospitality experience.

Relationships will also be tested in motion, with “Turbulence Tests” encouraging couples, friends, and even colleagues to travel together as a way of discovering how well they truly connect. Other trends speak to quieter, more reflective escapes“Hushed Hobbies” like birdwatching and foraging — and the emergence of “Glow-cations,” wellness trips centered on technology-enhanced skincare, hydration, and rest.

The report also notes a growing fascination with “Destined-ations,” trips inspired by astrology and spiritual timing, and “PastPorts,” journeys driven by nostalgia, where travelers revisit places tied to old photos and family memories using AI-assisted mapping. For many, the future of travel looks like a dialogue between memory and innovation.

Finally, “Modern Milestone Missions” redefine why people travel at all. Instead of waiting for traditional occasions like weddings or anniversaries, travelers are celebrating personal wins — from fitness achievements to new jobs or simply the desire to mark a new chapter in life.

“Travel in 2026 is about authenticity,” said James Waters, Chief Business Officer at Booking.com. “People are stress-testing relationships, stepping into fantasy worlds, and using technology to create journeys that truly reflect who they are.”

Across all ten trends, one theme stands out: the more personal travel becomes, the more universal its appeal.
