flydubai Expands Fleet with 12 New Aircraft in 2025, Strengthening Global Network

flydubai is accelerating its growth with a wave of new aircraft deliveries and network expansions in 2025. The Dubai-based airline has already taken delivery of seven new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft this year, with five more scheduled to join before December, bringing its fleet to more than 95 aircraft.

These additions are a key part of the carrier’s long-term strategy, allowing it to expand to underserved markets, increase capacity on popular routes, and strengthen Dubai’s role as a leading global aviation hub.

A growing fleet, new opportunities

Since April, the airline’s fleet has grown to 93 aircraft, supporting a network of over 135 destinations in 57 countries. CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the deliveries reflect flydubai’s confidence in the future of air travel, despite delays that have left the carrier 20 aircraft behind its original projections.

“Our fleet investment supports our mission to offer greater choice, enhanced convenience and improved connectivity for our passengers,” Al Ghaith said. “Looking ahead, these aircraft will enable us to unlock new destinations, optimise operations and play an even greater role in supporting Dubai’s growth as an international aviation hub.”

Strong financial backing

The first seven deliveries of 2025 were secured through a mix of Islamic financing from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, conventional debt financing from RAKBANK, and sale-and-leaseback agreements with JLPS and JLPS Ireland. The strong market appetite, flydubai noted, highlights the confidence global financial institutions have in the airline’s business model and growth prospects.

Expanding the network

In parallel with its fleet growth, flydubai has launched 11 new destinations in 2025, including Antalya, Al Alamein, Damascus, and Peshawar. Later this year, it will expand further into Europe with Chișinău and Iași (September) and Vilnius and Riga (December), enhancing connectivity for passengers across the region.

Investing in the passenger experience

flydubai is also pushing forward with a multimillion-dollar cabin retrofit program. Since 2024, 23 Boeing 737-800s have been refurbished with lie-flat Business Class seats and upgraded Economy Class cabins featuring enhanced inflight entertainment. The program will continue through 2026 to ensure a consistent premium experience across the fleet.

Building for the future

The airline’s workforce has grown by 10% year-on-year to more than 6,500 employees, driven by recruitment across multiple functions. In addition, flydubai has launched a new Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme (MPL) to prepare the next generation of pilots for its ambitious expansion.

With new aircraft, new destinations, and an upgraded onboard product, flydubai is positioning itself as one of the region’s fastest-growing carriers — and a key player in shaping Dubai’s aviation future.
