Dubai-based carrier flydubai has made history by becoming the first national airline from the UAE to operate direct flights to Basel. The inaugural flight from Dubai International (DXB) touched down at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL), marking the start of flydubai’s new four-times weekly service connecting Dubai with the tri-border region of Switzerland, France, and Germany.
The inaugural flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute upon its arrival at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, underscoring the significance of this milestone. Senior airport officials were on hand to welcome the delegation from flydubai, led by Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at the airline.
With the addition of Basel to its growing network, flydubai now serves 29 destinations across Europe. This includes major cities such as Budapest, Catania, Krakow, Milan-Bergamo, Prague, Salzburg, and Zagreb. The new route underscores flydubai’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Europe, offering more travel options to passengers and fostering closer connections between the UAE and the region.
Flights between Dubai and Basel will be operated a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Passengers travelling in Business Class can look forward to comfortable seats and internationally-inspired menus while Economy Class passengers can enjoy seats designed to optimise space and comfort.

Flight details
Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB). Emirates will codeshare on this route, offering passengers more options for connections through Dubai’s international aviation hub.
Return Business Class fares from DXB to BSL start from AED 13,000 and Economy Class Lite fares start from AED 1,500. Return Business Class fares from BSL to DXB start from CHF 3,325 and Economy Class Lite fares start from CHF 500.
