Brussels Airlines Expands Fleet with Five New Airbus A320neo Aircraft

Brussels Airlines is strengthening its fleet with a major investment in sustainability and passenger comfort. The airline’s Board of Directors has approved the addition of five brand-new Airbus A320neo aircraft, bringing the total number of this next-generation model in its fleet to 13.

The carrier currently operates five A320neos, with three more arriving in the coming months — the next one scheduled for delivery from Airbus’s Toulouse factory in November. The newly approved batch of five aircraft will begin arriving from 2027 onwards.

“The A320neo reduces our environmental footprint and offers a more pleasant experience for our passengers. We are very happy to welcome more of these state-of-the-art aircraft to our fleet,” said Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO of Brussels Airlines.

A greener and quieter fleet

The Airbus A320neo delivers up to 20% lower CO₂ emissions and 50% less noise compared to older models. Inside, passengers will benefit from larger overhead bins with 40% more storage space, designed to make boarding faster and easier.

Most of the new aircraft will replace older-generation planes, with one dedicated to fleet growth. Brussels Airlines uses the A320 family across its short- and medium-haul network.

Looking beyond short-haul

The investment is part of a broader modernization strategy. Brussels Airlines is also expanding its long-haul fleet to 13 Airbus A330 aircraft and plans to roll out new intercontinental cabins from 2027. In addition, the airline will renovate its award-winning Brussels Airport lounge, THE LOFT, to further elevate the passenger experience.
