Brussels Airlines Selects Two-Michelin-Star Chef Glenn Verhasselt as Its New Star Chef for 2026

Brussels Airlines is strengthening its culinary identity once again, announcing that Glenn Verhasselt – chef of the acclaimed two-Michelin-star restaurant Sir Kwinten in Lennik – will become the carrier’s new Star Chef beginning January 2026. The partnership continues the airline’s long-standing tradition of showcasing Belgium’s finest gastronomy on long-haul Business Class routes.

Verhasselt, celebrated for his refined and inventive approach to Belgian cuisine, brings a strong focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Under his leadership, Sir Kwinten has become one of the country’s most awarded restaurants, earning two Michelin stars, a top position in Belgian gastronomy rankings, and the title of Chef of the Year 2025 by Gault&Millau. He also serves as Provost of the Chefs within the prestigious gastronomic club Prosper Montagné.

From January 2026, Business Class passengers on intercontinental flights will enjoy menus crafted by Verhasselt and his team. The offering will rotate every three months and include a series of starters, mains, and desserts designed specifically for the in-flight environment.

Philip Mortier, Inflight Product Manager at Brussels Airlines, says the new partnership reinforces the airline’s mission to elevate the travel experience.
“Travelling is far more than getting from point A to point B – it is a true experience. Glenn’s vision and craftsmanship align perfectly with our values. With him as our new Star Chef, we continue to bring the best of Belgium to the world.”

For Verhasselt, the challenge of translating fine dining to 10,000 metres is both technical and creative.
“It is an honor to bring my cuisine to altitude. We have developed dishes that reflect our signature style and are perfectly suited to the unique conditions on board. My goal is to give passengers a taste of Belgian haute cuisine during their journey,” he said.

Brussels Airlines’ beverage programme will continue to play a central role in the onboard experience. Wines are selected by Master of Wine Jan De Clercq, Belgian beers by sommelier Sofie Vanrafelghem, and cheese assortments curated by Van Tricht. Bruut Festive 2022 from the Bruut Winery in Gooik will also be served on board.

The appointment marks the continuation of Brussels Airlines’ Star Chef initiative launched in 2013, which has since become one of the airline’s key brand signatures. Each year, the airline partners with celebrated Belgian chefs to design elevated menus highlighting regional specialties and seasonal products. Chef Raymond Slosse of Gate Gourmet once again ensures that the signature dishes retain their quality and character in the air.

Brussels Airlines’ collaboration with Glenn Verhasselt underscores its commitment to blending aviation with Belgian culinary excellence – a pairing passengers will begin enjoying on long-haul flights from early 2026.
