Etihad Airways Unveils the A321LR — Bringing First-Class Luxury to Short-Haul Flights

Etihad Airways has just taken regional flying to a whole new level. With today’s inaugural A321LR service from Abu Dhabi to Phuket, the airline is introducing widebody-style luxury to a single-aisle aircraft — and it’s set to change the way travellers think about short and medium-haul journeys.

The sleek new A321LR is the first of 30 to join Etihad’s fleet, each one designed with the elegance, comfort, and high-tech touches usually reserved for long-haul routes. From private First Class Suites to high-speed Wi-Fi, it’s a narrowbody that feels anything but narrow.

First Class: Private Suites Above the Clouds
Only two First Class Suites are on board, each fully enclosed with sliding doors, a flat bed, a 20-inch 4K screen, wireless charging, and space to dine with a companion. It’s an intimate, boutique experience — complete with Etihad’s renowned First Class service, both in the air and on the ground.

Business and Economy, Elevated
Business Class features 14 herringbone-configured seats, all with direct aisle access and window views, paired with 17.3-inch 4K displays. Economy passengers aren’t left behind — 144 ergonomically designed seats come with generous legroom, 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens, USB charging, and Bluetooth pairing for personal headphones.

Always Connected, Always Comfortable
The entire aircraft offers high-speed Wi-Fi capable of video calls, streaming, and gaming, plus enlarged overhead bins for added convenience.

As Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, says: “The A321LR symbolises our ambition to deliver extraordinary experiences on every route we serve.”

With the A321LR, Etihad isn’t just refreshing its fleet — it’s redefining what’s possible for short-haul travel, proving that luxury doesn’t have to wait for a long-haul flight.
