Easy Go app will officially launch in Shanghai on July 2, offering international visitors a much-needed digital guide for navigating one of China’s busiest cities. Designed to consolidate essential Chinese apps for tourists, the English-language platform aims to streamline the travel experience for foreigners, easing the challenges of mobile payments, transportation, shopping, and more.
The city’s government, through its foreign affairs office, announced the initiative as part of a broader push to make Shanghai more accessible to global travelers. With Alipay as its foundation, Easy Go brings together approximately 30 popular Chinese services in a single, easy-to-use interface — effectively giving foreign users the digital convenience long enjoyed by locals.
For many first-time visitors to China, the abundance of local apps can be overwhelming. From bike sharing and subway tickets to food delivery and entertainment bookings, navigating these services usually requires a native Chinese phone number and fluency with unfamiliar interfaces. Easy Go eliminates that barrier, enabling tourists to handle daily needs from the moment they land.
Whether it’s calling a taxi, ordering takeout, reserving a hotel, paying at a convenience store, or accessing translation tools, Easy Go centralizes everything within one mobile portal. The app also supports tax refund services and connects to e-commerce platforms, enhancing the shopping experience across both online and brick-and-mortar stores.
French tour guide Clarisse Le Guernic, who helped shape the platform, emphasized the gap it fills for foreigners. “Many foreign tourists coming to China tell me: ‘Your apps in China, they look very good, very convenient, but they’re so unfamiliar to us,’” she said. “Easy Go is just a perfect solution… so we can use it to call a taxi, book a hotel, also to pay, to have some translation, to take a bike — anything you need when you come to visit or live in Shanghai.”
Beyond functionality, Easy Go also keeps users informed about local events and entertainment. The app will serve as a hub for cultural happenings such as the “Shanghai Summer” International Consumption Season, taking place from July to October 2025, which highlights the city’s vibrant offerings in shopping, food, and leisure.
