Aircraft Engineer Dies After Being Crushed During Boeing 787 Maintenance

An aircraft engineer has died several weeks after suffering critical injuries in a maintenance accident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Heathrow Airport.

Georgie Buxton had been receiving intensive care treatment for four weeks after he was seriously injured while carrying out maintenance work inside a hangar.

Maintenance Accident During Boeing 787 Inspection

According to reports, Buxton was performing maintenance tests on a Boeing 787 when heavy equipment suddenly collapsed, crushing him inside the aircraft’s fuel tank.

Emergency services responded to the incident, and the engineer was taken to hospital in critical condition. After four weeks in intensive care, life support was withdrawn earlier this month.

Aircraft Remains Out of Service

The Boeing 787 involved in the accident has remained out of service since the incident as investigators work to determine how the machinery failed and the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

The investigation is expected to examine maintenance procedures, equipment involved in the work and workplace safety protocols.
