IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially opened Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai, expanding its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in China with a new wellness-focused resort in Shanghai’s Fengxian district. The property, which welcomed its first guests on June 30, marks the second Kimpton hotel in Shanghai and introduces the district’s first large-scale lifestyle and wellness destination.
Located in South Shanghai and surrounded by woodland and urban green spaces, the 229-room hotel combines Kimpton’s signature social atmosphere with wellness facilities, destination dining and nature-inspired design. The hotel aims to attract both Shanghai residents seeking an urban escape and international visitors exploring the city.
229 Rooms and Wellness-Focused Facilities
Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai offers 229 guestrooms and suites, including courtyard pool rooms, family-friendly accommodation and pet-friendly options. The low-density resort-style layout, uncommon in Shanghai, was designed to create a stronger connection between indoor and outdoor spaces while maximizing natural light and surrounding greenery.
At the heart of the property is EverNine Spa & Wellness, a 913-square-metre facility featuring eight treatment rooms, an indoor heated swimming pool, an outdoor plunge pool, a 24-hour fitness centre and spaces dedicated to mindfulness and movement. Guests can also enjoy a temperature-controlled soaking pool, landscaped gardens and wellness experiences inspired by nature.
Families are catered for with The Nest Kids Club, while Zombilee Pet Park provides dedicated outdoor facilities for guests travelling with pets.
Three Dining Venues
The hotel features three distinct food and beverage concepts designed to appeal to both hotel guests and local residents.
SOLA serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine influenced by Italy, France and Spain, while its adjoining private dining venue, LUNA, hosts tasting experiences and intimate gatherings. SONG, the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant, specialises in contemporary Jiangsu-Zhejiang cuisine served across 11 private dining rooms.
ECHO, a standalone cocktail bar inspired by natural caves, offers handcrafted cocktails and small plates in a dedicated social setting.
Guests can also enjoy Kimpton’s signature brand experiences, including the complimentary daily Kimpton Kickstart morning coffee and tea service and the evening Kimpton Social Hour featuring complimentary beer, wine and chef-prepared bites.
Designed for Events and Gatherings
Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai offers more than 2,150 square metres of flexible meeting and event space. The pillar-free Bloom Ballroom spans approximately 1,200 square metres and is complemented by an adjacent outdoor lawn suitable for weddings, product launches and large-scale celebrations.
Four additional multifunction rooms provide space for corporate meetings, private dinners and smaller events.
Nature-Inspired Urban Escape
The hotel’s architecture draws inspiration from the natural landscapes of southern Shanghai, with a horizontal resort-style design that blends contemporary interiors with gardens, water features and forest surroundings.
