RIU Hotels & Resorts has crossed a new frontier in its international growth with the opening of its first hotel in Canada: the Riu Plaza Toronto. Rising above the city’s famous skyline, this four-star property is set in the bustling Entertainment District, one of Toronto’s liveliest neighbourhoods.

The hotel occupies 23 floors of a newly built twin-tower complex, each soaring 49 stories high. The building’s design pays homage to Toronto’s past and future: a brick base blends with the surrounding 18th-century historic homes, while sleek glass panels form the upper structure, giving it a strikingly modern edge.

Inside, guests are greeted by a bright lobby with intimate corners for a sense of privacy, stylish furnishings, and a lobby bar perfect for an afternoon cocktail or a late-night snack. The second-floor restaurant serves RIU Plaza’s signature full buffet breakfast, included in the room rate and a highlight of the stay.

With 352 rooms, the Riu Plaza Toronto balances style and comfort while offering thoughtful amenities such as a 24-hour gym and a conference room that seats up to 40 people—ideal for business travellers.

But the hotel’s real draw is its location at 30 Widmer Street. Just steps away are some of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks: the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Princess of Wales Theatre, and David Pecaut Square.
