KLM Extends Suspension Of Middle East Flights Amid Regional Conflict

Dutch airline KLM has extended the suspension of several Middle East routes amid continuing security concerns linked to the conflict involving Iran and wider regional instability.

The airline confirmed on Tuesday that flights to a number of destinations in the Gulf region will remain cancelled until at least mid-July, with some routes suspended into August.

Dubai Flights Suspended Until August

KLM said services to and from Dubai will not resume before 2 August.

Flights to the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Dammam will remain suspended until at least 12 July.

The carrier had previously stated that operations might resume after 28 June, but the suspension period has now been extended.

Regional Conflict Continues To Disrupt Aviation

KLM, part of the Air France-KLM group, originally suspended the affected services on 1 March due to the war involving Iran and subsequent attacks across the Middle East region.

The ongoing instability has continued to affect airline operations, airspace planning and risk assessments for international carriers operating routes through the Gulf and surrounding areas.

Several airlines have repeatedly adjusted schedules, rerouted flights or temporarily suspended services because of security concerns and airspace restrictions.

Airlines Continue Monitoring Security Situation

The aviation industry remains highly sensitive to developments in the Middle East due to the strategic importance of regional air corridors connecting Europe, Asia and Africa.

Airlines operating through the Gulf region continue monitoring security advisories and coordinating with aviation authorities before restoring suspended services.

Industry analysts say route resumptions will likely depend on improvements in regional stability and updated safety assessments during the coming weeks.

Passengers Face Ongoing Travel Disruption

The extended suspensions are expected to continue affecting passengers travelling between Europe and key Gulf destinations during the busy summer travel season.

Travellers booked on affected routes may face cancellations, schedule changes or rebooking onto alternative flights operated by partner airlines.

The situation highlights the continued vulnerability of international aviation networks to geopolitical tensions and regional conflicts.
