Dollywood Begins Major Cashless Rollout At Splash Country And Resort Hotels

Dollywood Parks & Resorts has officially launched the first phase of its new cashless operations rollout, marking a major shift for guests visiting some of the company’s most popular properties this summer.

The changes begin today at Dollywood’s Splash Country, which opened its 2026 season as a fully cashless venue. Guests visiting the water park can no longer use paper currency at any point of sale across the property.

Importantly, the main Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge is not part of the current rollout. Traditional cash payments remain accepted throughout the flagship park, meaning the changes only affect Splash Country and select resort properties at this stage.

Splash Country Opens 2026 Season As Cashless Venue

Having welcomed visitors since 2001, Dollywood’s Splash Country remains one of the Smoky Mountains’ most visited seasonal attractions. Known for family-friendly experiences including the rushing currents of Wild River Falls and the wave action of Mountain Waves, the park now enters a new operational era with fully digital payments.

From today forward, guests will need to use debit cards, credit cards, mobile wallets or other electronic payment methods for food, beverages, merchandise and other purchases throughout the water park.

The rollout affects every transaction point inside Splash Country, making it the first Dollywood property to officially eliminate cash payments.

DreamMore Resort Transitions Next Month

The next phase arrives on 11 June, when Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa transitions to cashless operations.

The full-service resort features more than 300 guest rooms, multiple dining venues, a lazy river-style pool area and exclusive perks including early theme park entry and shuttle transportation. Once the change takes effect, guests staying at the property will also need to rely on electronic forms of payment during their visit.

The phased rollout reflects a broader hospitality industry trend toward contactless and digital payment systems, which many operators say improve transaction speed and operational efficiency.

Main Dollywood Theme Park Still Accepts Cash

Despite the operational changes at Splash Country and resort hotels, Dollywood’s main theme park has not joined the cashless transition.

Guests visiting the flagship Pigeon Forge attraction can still use paper currency throughout the park as normal, at least for now. Dollywood has not announced whether the broader theme park will eventually move to a fully cashless model.

For families planning Smoky Mountains vacations this summer, the distinction is important. Visitors heading to Splash Country or staying at DreamMore Resort should prepare for cashless transactions, while those visiting the main theme park can continue using traditional payment methods.
