The 25th edition of Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) brought the global aviation cabin industry back to Hamburg from April 14-16, with more than 12,500 attendees and nearly 500 exhibitors gathering to showcase the latest trends shaping the future of passenger experience.
The event welcomed representatives from 185 airlines alongside suppliers, manufacturers, lessors and aviation technology firms from around the world, underlining the growing importance of cabin interiors as airlines increasingly compete on onboard experience and premium products.
Strong airline and supplier participation
Industry executives said this year’s event reflected rising demand for next-generation cabin products and more sophisticated passenger experiences.
“AIX is a high-quality event, both in terms of its exhibitors and the calibre of attendees it attracts,” said Mingchuan Xiao, Deputy Manager at Fellat Air Lease Co.
Exhibitors reported particularly strong engagement with airlines focused on future cabin programs, retrofits and sustainability-driven upgrades.
Mirus Aircraft Seating described the 2026 edition as its “best show to date,” citing high levels of airline interest and programme-driven discussions.
Celebrating 25 years of AIX
The 2026 show also marked the 25th anniversary of AIX, with several companies returning for the event’s entire history, including Collins Aerospace, Lantal Textiles, Botany Weaving Mill and Percival Aviation.
At the same time, 93 companies made their debut at the exhibition, reflecting continued expansion across the aircraft interiors sector.
“It’s now the biggest event we attend,” said Percival Aviation Managing Director Chris Bench. “The scale, the connections, and the quality of conversations make it invaluable every year.”
Premium cabins and lightweight design dominate
Premiumisation remained one of the dominant themes throughout the event.
Flyadeal confirmed details of its new two-class Airbus A330-900neo cabin strategy ahead of planned long-haul operations beginning in 2027.
Seat manufacturers including Thompson Aero Seating, Unum Aircraft Seating and Geven unveiled new premium seating concepts focused on privacy, flexibility and modular cabin layouts.
Meanwhile, Mirus Aircraft Seating and ZIM Aircraft Seating showcased lightweight seating systems designed to improve fuel efficiency and sustainability.
Mirus also announced a major agreement with easyJet to supply Kestrel seats for 237 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
Business aviation expands influence
AIX 2026 also introduced its first dedicated BizJet Interiors Zone, bringing together 24 exhibitors focused on corporate and VIP aviation interiors.
The new area highlighted how business aviation design trends are increasingly influencing premium commercial cabins as airlines seek more luxurious onboard experiences.
ALOFT AeroArchitects used the event to highlight its expanding VVIP aircraft completions business, while F/LIST announced growth into corporate helicopter interiors.
IFEC evolves beyond connectivity
Another major theme at the show was the rapid evolution of inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC).
Industry discussions increasingly focused on how airlines can use connected cabins for personalized services, onboard retail and passenger engagement rather than simply providing internet access.
ZIPAIR revealed plans to deploy MacBook Pro devices as inflight servers integrated with Starlink connectivity across its fleet.
Thales introduced its next-generation FlytEDGE Aura seatback entertainment platform, while Burrana and Seamless Digital demonstrated e-paper seatbacks capable of serving as advertising displays.
IdeaNova also launched an offline-first AI platform designed to deliver personalized entertainment and shopping experiences onboard aircraft.
Growing international footprint
The event reflected the increasing globalization of the cabin sector, with strong participation from airlines and manufacturers across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
APAC accounted for 17% of attendees, while the Middle East represented 14%.
New market analysis presented during the event also highlighted growing cabin innovation and demand across India and other emerging aviation markets.
Looking ahead to 2027
AIX Event Director Archana Dharni said the 2026 edition demonstrated both the strength of the industry and the growing role of cabin interiors in airline strategy.
“It was fantastic to see the industry’s momentum on full display, with so many brand-new product launches, significant airline representation and the very latest innovations on show,” Dharni said.
The next Aircraft Interiors Expo will take place in Hamburg from April 6-8, 2027.
