LOT Polish Airlines Unveils Locally-Made RECARO Seats for Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A220 Fleet

LOT Polish Airlines has officially received its first set of RECARO Aircraft Seating’s R2 model seats, manufactured in Świebodzin, Poland, for installation aboard its new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Airbus A220 aircraft. This marks a key step in the carrier’s broader cabin modernization strategy, aiming to elevate the passenger experience with world-class comfort — delivered in Polish style.

The first of thirteen Boeing 737 MAX 8s featuring the new seats is expected to join the LOT fleet by the end of the year. In total, the airline will receive approximately 14,000 ergonomically designed seats, tailored to maximize comfort on short- and medium-haul routes.

Made in Poland, Designed for the Future

The RECARO R2 seats offer a mix of lightweight engineering, advanced ergonomics, and passenger-centric features. Each seat includes:

  • A 60W power outlet for fast charging of personal devices

  • A BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mount for tablets and smartphones

  • Six-way adjustable headrests

  • Extended armrests and contoured backrests with enhanced foam for added comfort

  • Slimline, sliding tray tables

At under 10 kg per unit, the seats also support LOT’s sustainability goals by reducing aircraft weight, lowering fuel consumption, and cutting CO₂ emissions. Their modular design enables easier maintenance and aligns with eco-conscious operational practices.

“The RECARO seats represent more than just comfort. They reflect a thoughtful investment in both passenger experience and Polish innovation,” said Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines. “Producing the seats in Świebodzin means supporting Polish jobs while advancing LOT’s long-term modernization efforts.”

A Complete Cabin Makeover

The new RECARO seating is just one part of LOT’s sweeping upgrade initiative. Interiors of the Boeing 737 MAX 8s will take design cues from the airline’s Polonez Business Lounge in Warsaw and its Chicago lounge, combining contemporary elegance with a consistent brand aesthetic.

These refreshed cabins will also echo the upcoming retrofit of LOT’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, promising elevated comfort across all service classes.

As LOT’s new Airbus A220s and Boeing 737 MAX 8s gradually join the fleet, passengers can expect cutting-edge cabin design, premium materials, and technology-driven amenities that bring the airline closer to world-class standards — all while keeping a distinctly Polish identity at heart.
