Contour Airlines Launches First Commercial Flights From Ruidoso To Denver

Contour Airlines has announced the launch of the first commercial air service in the history of Ruidoso, New Mexico, with new nonstop flights between Sierra Blanca Regional Airport and Denver International Airport set to begin on June 25, 2026.

The new route marks a major milestone for the mountain community, officially connecting Ruidoso to the national commercial aviation network for the first time.

Ruidoso Gains Direct Access To Major US Aviation Hub

The nonstop service to Denver International Airport will provide travelers from Ruidoso with easier access to destinations across the United States and international markets through connecting flights.

At the same time, local officials expect the route to strengthen tourism by improving access to Ruidoso’s outdoor recreation, ski resorts, horse racing events and arts and culture attractions.

Contour Airlines President Ben Munson described the launch as a transformative moment for the region.

“This new nonstop route to Denver not only transforms how the community connects to the rest of the country, but also opens the door for more visitors to experience everything Ruidoso has to offer,” Munson said.

Local Leaders Expect Economic Benefits From New Flights

Village of Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford said the introduction of scheduled commercial flights is expected to deliver long-term economic benefits for the area.

“Tourism is the lifeblood of Ruidoso. It sustains our businesses, supports our families, and funds the services that make this village such a special place to live,” Crawford said.

He added that easier access for visitors will help strengthen the local economy while opening a new chapter for Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.

Crawford also thanked Contour Airlines executives for investing in the destination and supporting the airport’s commercial development.

Contour Airlines To Operate 30-Seat Regional Jets

The airline will operate the route using its Embraer ERJ-135 regional jet aircraft configured with 30 seats.

Contour Airlines said passengers will receive additional legroom compared with many regional aircraft, alongside complimentary snacks and beverages onboard.

The service represents a significant expansion in connectivity for southern New Mexico and could help position Ruidoso as a more accessible year-round tourism destination.
