Condé Nast Names Marbella, Sevilla and Madrid Hotels in 2026 Hot List

Three Spanish hotels have been named among the world’s best by Condé Nast Traveller in its latest Hot List, with properties in Marbella, Sevilla and Madrid all making the cut. The annual list highlights new hotels that opened in the past year and have impressed the magazine’s editors.

The Spanish entries include the Marbella Club on the Costa del Sol, a historic resort long associated with glamour and understated luxury, plus a secluded Sevilla hideaway and a grand Madrid hotel. Together, they underline Spain’s continued strength as a high-end travel destination, with city breaks and beach escapes both drawing global attention.

Condé Nast Traveller said the list recognises hotels that combine strong design, service and sense of place. The magazine’s selection often influences where affluent travellers book next, and the 2026 edition again gives Spain a prominent role on the international hospitality stage.

Marbella Club is one of the best-known names on the Costa del Sol. Set in landscaped gardens and close to the coast, it has long been a favourite among visitors looking for privacy, classic style and easy access to the sea. Its inclusion on the list reinforces Marbella’s position as one of Europe’s most established luxury resort destinations.

Sevilla also secured a place on the Hot List through a new hotel described as a hideaway. The Andalusian capital has seen growing demand from travellers seeking culture, food and heritage-led stays, and the city’s hotel scene has expanded to meet that interest. A feature on the list suggests that smaller, design-led properties are increasingly competing with larger luxury brands for attention.

In Madrid, the grand dame on the list reflects the capital’s appeal to visitors who want a more formal urban hotel experience. Madrid has become a stronger luxury market in recent years, helped by its museums, restaurants and improving international connectivity. The inclusion of a top-end hotel there shows the city remains central to Spain’s tourism offer.

Condé Nast Traveller’s Hot List is closely watched by the travel industry because it spotlights properties that are either newly opened or recently transformed. Hotels featured on the list often see a rise in bookings and global visibility after publication. For destinations, the recognition can also help broaden the profile of local tourism beyond the best-known attractions.

The latest selection also points to a wider trend in luxury travel: guests are looking for hotels with personality, not just large rooms and premium service. Historic buildings, strong interiors and a clear sense of location are now as important as spas and fine dining. Spain’s three entries reflect that shift, each offering a different take on the country, from the coast to the city.

For Marbella, Sevilla and Madrid, the appearance on an influential international list is another endorsement of their place on the global travel map. It may also encourage travellers to look beyond the most obvious Mediterranean and European city hotels when planning a short break or a longer stay.
