A new luxury hospitality brand inspired by one of London’s most iconic restaurants is preparing to make its international debut. The Wolseley Hotels has announced its global launch, with its first property scheduled to open in New York City in early 2027.
The Wolseley Hotel New York will be located just steps from Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan and will serve as the brand’s flagship destination. The opening will also introduce The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States for the first time, bringing the renowned London dining institution to an international audience.
The hotel will occupy the landmark building at 130 West 44th Street, a historic address originally constructed in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club. Designed by the celebrated architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the property has long been associated with Broadway’s creative community and New York’s cultural elite, remaining an enduring symbol of the city’s theatrical heritage.
Blending British refinement with the energy of Manhattan, the property aims to establish a new expression of classic hospitality in one of the world’s most vibrant urban centres.
Elevating luxury in Midtown Manhattan
The Wolseley Hotel New York will feature 76 guest rooms and suites designed to balance classical elegance with contemporary restraint. Interiors will emphasise refined materials, bespoke craftsmanship, and carefully considered layouts intended to create a sense of calm sophistication within the heart of the city.
At the centre of the property will be The Wolseley New York, the brand’s first restaurant in the United States and its culinary flagship for North America. Inspired by the grand café tradition of its London counterpart, the restaurant will offer all-day dining, signature cocktails, and a lively yet polished social atmosphere.
Guests will also have access to a cellar-level speakeasy bar designed as a more intimate, atmospheric space. The hotel will further include a reimagined wellness and wellbeing centre focused on relaxation, holistic comfort, and modern luxury.
A London legacy reinterpreted in New York
The Wolseley Hotels draws inspiration from the celebrated London restaurant known for its Art Deco elegance, impeccable service, and reputation as a meeting place for cultural figures, business leaders, and public personalities.
In New York, this heritage will be interpreted through a cosmopolitan perspective that combines British sophistication with the city’s unmistakable character. The experience will centre on personalised service, elegant design, and a vibrant culinary programme that defines the hotel’s identity.
Guests can expect bespoke in-room amenities, thoughtful detailing, and a social atmosphere designed to feel both international and distinctly rooted in New York’s cultural landscape.
Global expansion plans
The New York property represents the first step in what the company describes as a carefully curated international expansion. The Wolseley Hotels plans a selective global rollout across major cosmopolitan destinations in Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.
Each future property will seek to replicate the brand’s defining pillars: culinary excellence, refined design, and gracious hospitality that blends timeless tradition with contemporary luxury.
