Moon World Resorts Plans Giant Lunar Sphere Resort by 2032

Canadian developer Moon World Resorts has revealed plans for one of the most ambitious hospitality projects of the next decade – a giant spherical resort designed to simulate the experience of being on the Moon. The project, titled Moon, could open as early as 2032 if approvals and funding are secured.

At the heart of the development would stand what the company describes as the largest and tallest spherical building in the world. With a projected diameter of 271 metres and a height of 312 metres, the structure would surpass the scale of Sphere in Las Vegas, currently one of the most recognisable spherical venues globally.

Inside the massive structure, developers plan to house a 4,000-room hotel alongside conference facilities, event spaces, restaurants, wellness centres and a smaller boutique hotel component. The defining feature, however, would be an immersive lunar surface simulation designed to give visitors the sensation of walking on the Moon. Exactly how reduced-gravity effects or surface realism would be engineered has not yet been disclosed.

The location for Moon remains undecided. While Saudi Arabia is widely viewed as a strong candidate given its appetite for large-scale tourism megaprojects, several other countries are reportedly under consideration. These include Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Poland, Spain, Thailand, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

Beyond the central sphere, the broader master plan envisions an integrated resort complex featuring 20 surrounding towers connected by a panoramic elevated walkway. An additional 16 smaller spherical buildings would serve mixed-use purposes, alongside branded luxury residences, parking infrastructure, a helipad and a vertiport, signalling alignment with emerging urban air mobility concepts.

If realised, Moon would blur the boundaries between destination resort, immersive attraction and architectural landmark. Its scale and ambition place it among the most daring hospitality concepts currently proposed, though significant questions remain regarding engineering feasibility, capital requirements and long-term demand.

For now, Moon stands as a bold vision of experiential travel – one that aims to bring the lunar surface to Earth on an unprecedented scale.
