Cancún International Airport is experiencing significant flight disruptions today, with 40 flights delayed and 23 flights canceled, according to airport data and airline tracking systems.
While the airport remains open and operational, the volume of schedule changes has created long queues at check-in counters and boarding gates. Hundreds of travelers are navigating rebookings, standby lists and revised departure times as airlines reposition aircraft and crews.
Most scheduled flights are still operating, but the disruption level is high enough to create ripple effects throughout the day. Arrivals have also been affected, with inbound aircraft experiencing extended turnaround times before departure.
Airlines serving Cancún — one of Mexico’s busiest international gateways with heavy traffic to the United States, Canada and Europe — are offering rebooking flexibility and change-fee waivers for impacted passengers. Airport authorities say operations continue under enhanced coordination between ground crews, carriers and security teams.
In addition to flight changes, some departing travelers are encountering stricter verification of the state’s mandatory tourist departure tax, which has added processing time at certain checkpoints and contributed to congestion inside terminals.
Travelers scheduled to fly through Cancún today are strongly advised to confirm flight status directly with their airline before leaving for the airport and to allow additional time for check-in and security procedures. With dozens of disruptions already recorded, further schedule adjustments remain possible as airlines stabilize operations.
